CFIF deploys 100% of contributed funds as non-repayable grants to eligible clean fuel and emissions-reduction projects across Canada. We welcome applications from project developers at any stage, from early concept to construction-ready.

Project Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations
  • Located in Canada
  • Demonstrated emissions-reduction or clean fuel production potential
  • Credible project proponent with execution track record
  • Clear pathway to compliance credit generation
  • Third-party verifiable outcomes

Project Types

Low-Carbon Fuel Production

Renewable diesel, SAF, RNG, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, and co-processed fuels.

Emissions Reduction

Process efficiency, methane capture, carbon capture, and fuel production decarbonization.

Enabling Infrastructure

Blending terminals, distribution networks, EV charging, and hydrogen fueling stations.

What Happens Next

Initial Review

CFIF's investment team reviews your submission for eligibility and alignment with fund criteria.

Due Diligence

Selected projects undergo technical feasibility review, CI pathway analysis, and credit generation modelling.

Committee Decision

The investment committee evaluates and approves projects for non-repayable grant funding.

Submitting a project application does not guarantee funding. All projects are subject to CFIF's due diligence process and investment committee approval. CFIF's application under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations is pending ECCC approval.
